How Social Networking Works for Sales

By now almost everyone has heard of social networking or social marketing. It has invaded the internet from every corner of the globe. It is also one of the best places to build your brand and find like minded people.

The problem is most people don’t know how to use it to its full potential. I often see them pushing their products and services which is not the correct thing to do. Pushing your wares in a social networking environment is equivalent to a door to door sales man.

Nobody likes them and most of the time they pretend they aren’t home or rudely send them on their way. It’s no different in the social marketing arena; people are tired of being sold to. You have probably already heard the statement nobody likes to be sold, but everyone likes to buy. Read more

How to Find Followers on Social Networking Sites

One of the most frequent questions I receive from those starting out in social networking is “How do I find followers?” Well, first you need to be clear of who your demographic really is. (And the answer is not ‘anyone who’ll pay for my product or service.)

Do they have children? Are they married, in a relationship, or single? What keeps them up at night? What excites them? Where do they live? What hobbies do they have?

Be as detailed and specific as you can about who your ideal client is – that’s who you are talking to through your social media use and that’s who you are looking for in your followers. Read more

Are You Spending Too Much Time on Twitter?

Everybody loves Twitter. I get it. Heck, even I spend some time on it each day. The operative word being “some.” I do not live there. I do not make it my home away from home like some of you marketers do. And the question that has to be asked is this. Even if you are getting a following on Twitter and making some cash from doing so, are your efforts worth the time spent when maybe you could be doing something else that would bring you a bigger return?

I’m going to throw some hypothetical figures at you here in order to illustrate my point. These are in no way meant to reflect actual reality because the truth is, everybody is going to be different. But this should give you some idea of whether or not your time is being utilized properly. Read more

Organic Search Engine Optimization Tips

Organic traffic will always out perform any type of paid advertising.

There are two big reasons why this is so.

  1. Most casual surfers will see the first page and will click on the top 10 or so sites listed. Most casual surfers have no idea that the side bar is for paid advertising.
  2. Your website or blog listing will always be there. Unless your doing something illegal or managed to get your site banned for whatever reason. The more often they see it there the more they consider your site legitimate.

We all started with organic traffic. Do you remember when you first submitted your website or blog to google, yahoo or DMOZ? Your pages or posts are still there and will be there until…the end of time? Read more
